Cafe 939

Nestled in the heart of the Back Bay lives a small room with a big musical heart; it’s known as the Red Room because of its beautiful color and vibrant beat.

The Red Room @ Cafe 939 is an all-ages venue and we mean that very literally. In addition to showcasing the latest, greatest musical acts touring through Boston, the venue also hosts a variety of children’s programming designed to encompass many musical genres, performance styles, and age groups.

The venue café serves everything from parfaits to paninis to organic coffee.
Kid-friendly fare is also available, so why not come for a show and then stay for lunch.

KidsJam: Educational Workshops for Kids Ages 3-5

KidsJam is one of the Red Room @ Cafe 939’s most popular programs—a student-inspired, faculty-led workshop that helps to pepper the palates of the future generation of music-lovers.

During this weekly workshop, Berklee music education students, led by professors Libby Allison and Charlene Ryan, practice their developing teaching skills in this fun and energetic setting. Sessions involve singing, moving, playing instruments, listening, and creating or improvising music.

KidsJam sessions are scheduled on Mondays from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (October through April). Sessions are free and they fill up quickly. Advance registration required.
